Mosaic Internship Newsletter No. 6
Updated: Jul 30
Hello, readers!
Happy summer to you all! I’m not sure what the weather is like where you are reading this from, but it’s been gorgeous here in Southcentral Alaska. I might even say, quite hot! I hope you all have been able to get out and enjoy some summertime fun.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but June marks the halfway point of my internship! It feels like just yesterday that I began, and it astonishes me how far I’ve come. It’s also encouraging to see Mosaic grow as a ministry and the students desiring to serve those around them. It always makes me happy to see the students planning things together and cultivating such a strong community. (If any of you students happen to be reading this, know you’re doing great! Keep up the good work.)
Even though I am not as involved as I’d like to be with them this summer, great things are still happening! Here is what went down in June:
I went to Seattle for Ministry Partner Training!
You may be scratching your head wondering what “Ministry Partner Training” is. As I have mentioned in previous posts, for me to be fully committed to this ministry, I have to raise my own financial support. That means inviting people into my Support Team to join as one-time or monthly partners, which also helps keep the ministry running. It’s more than just requesting donations, it’s a relationship and a journey we do together.
Since this is all still fairly new to me, I figured it would be a great idea to get some official training and guidance as I raise support this summer. Luckily, Seattle is only a 3-4 hour flight away, so it was fast! I stayed with the Schneeflock’s, a wonderful and sweet family that made me feel right at home. They went the extra mile to make me as comfortable as could be and provided special food for me to eat (since I have many restrictions). The training was just for a weekend, so I only got to spend time with them for a few days. I was a bit sad when I had to head back home. But luckily, they are close by and we may have some fun things to plan in the future! The training was tremendously helpful and provided a lot of valuable info and practice so that I can now go full steam ahead in support raising.
It’s go-time for support raising!
Now that I have some training and more tools, it’s go-time for support raising! It’s taking a little longer than I had hoped, but I am still fully confident that God will provide. My biggest hiccups are finding contacts and facing my social anxiety head-on. If you could pray over those, I would greatly appreciate it! I’ve had a few wonderful and encouraging meetings so far that are helping me in my journey, so praise God! I have a feeling it'll be like when I fundraised for my mission trip to Japan, where much of the support came in quickly and towards the deadline. Or maybe it’ll take longer than we planned! Either way, I trust in God’s timing and that He will provide for me fully and abundantly when the time is right. Praise Him for the peace that is still in my heart!
I finished the Mosaic Promotional Video!
Admittedly, it took me a while to try and figure out the right format and style. After tossing many papers with ideas, drafts, and redo's, I was finally inspired to create it! Many long nights later, sorting through extensive footage and making edits, the video was finally done! I’m pretty pleased with it, and once we have the official product, I’ll probably post it somewhere on my blog. I’m also redoing my personal promotional video so once that is ready, it will be posted here! Be sure to keep a lookout. :)
And of course, enjoying the Alaska summer!
As I stated above, it’s been beautiful, and quite hot in fact! It got as high as 81 a couple weekends ago at the lake. When our summers are usually low to mid-60s, that’s pretty warm for us Alaskans! I’ve done my fair share of hiking mountains and swimming at the lake, where I also recently jammed my thumb a bit on the jet ski. My goal this summer is to do about 2-3 hikes a week and do two of the most difficult trails out here in Palmer towards the end. So in my little free time, I’ve been pretty much outside! I got a nice tan so far and am getting in better shape, so I am happy. Plus, 19.5 hours of daylight is pretty awesome! Sure, it’s hard to sleep, but it’s absolutely worth it.
Well, friends, that’s all I have for my June update! July I imagine will be a hectic month full of meetings and building my Ministry Partner team. I feel like exciting changes are coming, and I eagerly anticipate its arrival.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer, and I will see you again next month! God bless!
