Mosaic Internship Newsletter No. 7
Hey there, readers!
I hope y'all are having a fabulous and adventurous summer. I certainly have! Although I am sad summer is slowly ending, I can't wait to be with the students more regularly. I've been pretty busy out here in the Matsu Valley, so I've only seen them a handful of times. That being said, the school year is just around the corner and I’ll be traveling with some of them soon (more on that later).
July has been similar to June, like being busy with support raising and getting outside when I'm able. There has been a bit more momentum support raising-wise, which I am so excited to share with you!
Let’s dive right in, shall we?
Three more have joined my Ministry Partner Team, and more churches are interested!
Praise God for His perfect timing and provision! I notice that when I start to feel anxious about finances, God always pulls through when I least expect it. I can’t tell you how many anonymous gifts would come in whenever I had a sudden expense coming up. I would worry, "How am I going to cover this?" But He continues to provide every single time.
I also had the honor and privilege to speak briefly at the Matanuska Assembly of God here in Palmer about my passion for college ministry. Those 5-10 minutes felt like an eternity to my anxious self, but it was still a magnificent opportunity. Many approached me during greeting time, expressing their interest and excitement about college ministry and how to support it. They felt particularly encouraged with our desire to expand to the Matsu Campus. A few were even interested in volunteering!
Because of that time to share and connect, I gained two more Ministry Partners! My family friends in Florida also joined my team, with a grand total of three partners this month! I’m about halfway to my goal now and will have more meetings closer to August/September.
I created a YouTube page for Mosaic.
Although it took longer than expected, it was a fun project for me during my downtime. I’ve created some videos (which you can see here) and wanted to ensure their accessibility for us on staff, as well as those wanting to know more about Mosaic.
I’m anticipating we will create more fun videos, and now that I finally have the right computer/ program, it’ll make it much easier. I didn’t realize how much I enjoy video editing, recording and graphic design, but I’m glad it’s being put to good use!
I checked off another hike on my bucket list: Lazy Mountain.
This hike is anything but lazy. I suppose people call it that because for the next 1-3 days, all you want to do is be lazy. It took longer than we anticipated, and I didn’t want to move at all the next day or two.
But oh my goodness, the views were spectacular.
I went with my good friend/coworker Megan, and it was some of the most fun I’ve had this summer! There were times we were a tad miserable and just wanted it to be over, but we also had a lot of laughs, good talks, and a fantastic day for adventure. I loved it and will absolutely do it again, but maybe in 3 to 5 years.
Collegiate Week is just around the corner!
Collegiate Week (or Colgate Week as the students call it) is a time for students and leaders from college ministries across the nation to come together in fellowship. Truthfully, I’m not entirely sure what the trip entails, but I’ve heard it’s a remarkable and impactful learning/spiritual experience for students and leaders alike. I guess we will have some breakout sessions like we did at the Collegiate Summit, as well as an opportunity to bond with other college leaders.
I am actually excited to be traveling with the students as well. My last few trips this summer (aside from the Summit) were all solo. It reminds me of my YWAM trip in Japan when traveling with the team; I really miss that. Maybe not so much the hectic side of things haha, but the fellowship and growing together. I’m eager for an exciting, adventurous, and spirit-filled week!
And poof! July is over in a flash. All those calls, meetings, handing out material to local churches, and summer fun have made this month feel like just a couple of weeks. But I can’t wait to see what God has in store for August!
God bless you all, and I’ll see you guys again next month!
