Happy Thanksgiving, readers!
Although this will be posted a few days after the holiday, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I enjoyed some quality time with my family while enjoying delicious food and watching the football game. It was nice to take a step back from everything, relax, and reflect on things I’m grateful for.
In fact, here is a list of things I am thankful for this year:
-God leading me to intern with Mosaic Campus Ministry
-God providing for my every need, no matter how impossible it may seem
-the connections I have made with both students and supporters
-all the training, experiences, and learning I have done to help me become a college missionary
Practicing gratitude, I believe, is one of many antidotes to beat the blues of life. Difficult times are guaranteed to come, but remembering God's blessings makes the journey a bit more doable. I’m so glad that God continues to remind me of these things to show that, despite circumstances, He is still good and always in control.
Alrighty, let’s go over November!
We had two of our student leaders baptized!
Isn’t that awesome? Our church in Anchorage even made special arrangements so that we could see both baptisms (since they were done at different locations AND times). About ten or so of us from Mosaic (staff, leaders, and students) came to support and celebrate with them. Both churches were packed to the brim. One of the leaders being baptized even took the opportunity to share a bit of their testimony! What a joyous occasion this was!
I’m at about 79% of my support-raising goal!
God has provided abundantly this year, and He continues to do so. Even with the struggles of support-raising, He continues to display His promise to me that He will always provide. From sudden desires to give to an influx in contacts, it has left me feeling very encouraged!
I even had the opportunity to share at a little church here in Palmer that recently employed a new pastor from Illinois. (Funny enough, it's right behind the church I attend!) Despite my nerves, I felt so much love and compassion from this congregation. So many were excited to hear about Mosaic and our desire to bring it to the Matsu College. They felt encouraged for their sons and daughters about to enter their young adult years, which warmed my heart.
I also got to share with a young adult group in Wasilla, who were very excited to hear about our desire to expand. Their excitement and love refreshed my heart. In both of these times I shared, folks would come up to me and say, “I can hear the joy of the Lord in your voice; this is exactly where you need to be.” Little did they know how much I needed to hear those words!
Although my deadline is quickly approaching, I still trust God, and that He will provide what I need so that I may start full-time in the spring. As my team members have stated, I’m like a racehorse at the starting gate, just itching to get out and run!
Our student leaders continue to step up, and my heart is filled with joy.
Our students are on fire for Christ, and I love seeing how far they’ve come this year. They are looking in every nook and cranny to serve! One of our students even expressed their desire to be a pastor, and he spoke on one of our Mosaic nights (and a few times at his church).
As staff, we are shifting into mentorship and coaching roles as Mosaic becomes more of a student-led ministry. It’s been a learning process for us, but we couldn't be happier, for this is what we've prayed for! I honestly love moving into a mentor role, as it is one of my favorite things to do: encourage and guide.
And November is gone in a flash! With all these support-raising meetings and amazing things happening in Mosaic, the month was a bit of a blur. But I have just one more month left in my internship before joining as staff! I’m so excited and can’t wait to share more with you once that time comes.
As always, I will see you next month! God bless!
